HIDDEN (Marchwood Vampire Series Book 1)
By Shalini Boland
The vampire paranormal genre type of books, have become extremely popular these days mainly due to the twilight phenomena. Alas some are extremely good while others are pretty poor, thankfully Shalini Bolands’ Hidden falls in to the former category and is if I do say so myself very good indeed.
The story does start a little slow but that’s mainly due to the author setting the scene before she takes you on a truly enjoyable journey as you follow Maddy and her brother Ben, orphans who have been living with foster parents.
They suddenly receive an inheritance, which completely transforms their lives and living circumstances taking them to the mysterious Marchwood House.
Switching back and forth between the past and present may not be everyone’s cup of tea but it really works, almost like reading two books that eventually weave together, forming a beautiful tapestry of words.
There are many things you will like in this book, the authors writing is truly superb but for me I love the fact that the vampires are of the more traditional mould and the main character Maddy is so well written that you cant help become totally involved in everything she does.
Overall Hidden is a great book and one that has made me a fan of this author.
And if you’re a twilight fan then you’re going to like this one a lot.
