Name: Henry William Dalgliesh Cavill (age thirty (born 5 May 1983))
About: With the Superman franchise throwing out yet another film and Clark Kent reincarnation, who could be more suited for a little bit of the Razberry Candy treatment than the extremely blue eyed and chiselled Henry Cavill!
Cavill hails from Jersey in the Channel Islands, he has four brothers (he is number four). Cavill comes from a solidly middle class and privileged background, his father, Colin, is a stockbroker, while his mother Marianne works as a secretary in a bank. His education started at St. Michael's Preparatory School in Saint Saviour, Jersey, and he then headed off to be a boarder at Stowe School in Buckinghamshire.
He started acting in school plays early, at prep school, and decided on a career as a thespian from that young age, saying however had he not gone into acting it would have been the Army or off to Univeristy to study Egyptology, two less unrelated ambitions we cannot think of!
While Cavill was at school in Buckinghamshire, he met his co-star on Man of Steel, Russell Crowe, who was spending time there filming Proof of Life, and Cavill was lucky enough to be chosen to be an extra, and he grabbed the opportunity to ask Crowe about a career in acting!
At just thirty, Cavill has had some pretty decent roles in film and on our television screens, but up to landing the role of Clark Kent, his biggest role to date, and the role most of us will recognise him from is of course playing Charles Brandon, the 1st Duke of Suffolk in the brilliant TV series The Tudors, which ran from 2007 to 2010 and saw Cavill playing the role of a sixteenth century Duke, a portrait of the real Duke will show a man lacking the good looks of Cavill! It is without doubt The Tudors which set him on the road to Hollywood, the show was initially shown only in America, the BBC purchasing the exclusive British rights. A worldwide audience saw him, in the words of Entertainment Weekly, (who named him the "Most Dashing Duke") displaying "charm, depth and a killer bod"!
Superman is not the first 'major role' Cavill has been in the picture for, however it the first he has actually been cast for, his main rival it seems has been that favourite with teenage girls everywhere, fellow British actor, Robert Pattison. Cavill had been in line to play Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in 2005, a role that went to Pattison; and Stephanie Mayer the author of the Twilight books was quite vocal in her preference for Cavill to play the role of Edward in the films, however by the time they actually came around, he was too old and the role again went to Pattison. Also in 2005, Cavill was down to the final two with Daniel Craig for the role of James Bond, but apparently preferring an older Bond, Daniel Craig got the role (and as huge Bond fans on Razberry Juice, we can't help but think they made the right decision click HERE for James Bond Razberry Candy). However the man Empire magazine dubbed the "Unluckiest Man in Hollywood" has finally had his raffle number called landing one of the best roles Hollywood has to offer.
Having seen Man of Steel, we can confirm that Cavill fills the role and the costume perfectly! Another feather in the British acting contingents cap, showing that we can do more than be baddies!
What Makes him Razberry Candy: Superman is only the start, we are sure of a meteoric rise to superstardom for the Stockbroker's boy from Jersey!!
