The Everything Girl – Cecilia Marie

We wanted to speak to Cecilia Marie after we stumbled upon her blog – SweetSurrenderArt, she really is the everything girl, artist, blogger, mother and make-up artist to name but a few….she seems to fit the mould of the kind of woman we made Razberry Juice for (or for those of us not quite that energetic, the kind of woman, we would like to read about!!)

Having a little time, with Cecilia Marie, we settled on some good old fashioned question and answer time!

At age did you show an interest in drawing and art in general?

I was drawing since I was old enough to pick up a pen, pencil, marker, or in some cases my mom’s eyeliners. I’m known to have drawn on the walls when I was 2 years old.

We love your blog, so can you tell us in your own words what best describes your work and your blog?

I am an artist in many different ways from being a hair stylist, makeup artist, fashion designer, painter, illustrator, and the list can go on.I am always working on improving myself and my work so my blog is a way to show my work and my progress as a growing artist.

As an artist (and everything else 😉 ), where do you draw your inspirations and ideas from?

I am interested in so many different things from art, hair, makeup, fashion design, interior design, tattoos, books and I like to blog about any and everything I am inspired by. I write posts on my own artwork and of others I come in contact with or find online.

Which medium do you best prefer to work with oils, water colours, inks etc?

I am still exploring all the mediums, but I do like inks for illustration my tattoo drawings and my fashion sketches. For painting more abstract art, I love acrylics. But for more detailed, precise paintings I like oils. I also love to use airbrush paint as well.

How hard do you think it is to make a living from art in todays world with so many recourses available to get work out there now, such as the internet?

It is hard at first to find your niche and get exposure. Once you get your foot in the door and participate in events in the community and in the online community, an artist can make a good living.

Whose work do you most admire today?

There are too many to choose from! Lately, I have been into is Kelly Eden. I saw her in a Bound By Ink tattoo magazine and her work is amazing!

Do you consider yourself a writer artist or both ?

I think I am both. I also enjoy writing and have always written in journals at a young age.

What advice can you offer to anyone starting out as an artist or writer do you feel blogging is a good way to be heard and seen ?

Get involved. No one will ever hear or see you and your work if you don’t branch out and participate. Go onto other peoples blogs, join a social network, promote yourself, enter contests and tell everyone what you do!

So with the slightly serious questions out of the way, we got in some random ones – just for fun!

Whats your favourite colour?

I love all colours, but I am more deeply moved by all shades and hues of blue.

Where in the world would you like most to go visit?

I really want to go to Ireland and London to explore the cultures and the scenery (Razberry Juice being English and Irish based – we thought this a very good answer!).

What type of music do you like to listen too?

My interests in music vary like my art, but when I am in my art mode like painting or sketching, I like to listen to techno or dubstep. If Iam feeling mellow, I listen to soft rock, or alternative. My favourite band is the Goo Goo Dolls.

Do you sing while taking a bath shower?

Only if I have music playing while I in the shower. But yes, I like to think I sound just like Adele in the shower ;).

If you were a cartoon character what or who would you be ?

Hmmmmmm….I don’t know who I would be. The only cartoons I watch courtesy of my children are Spongebob, Sonic the Hedgehog and Beyblades.
